What to Expect During a Contact Lens Fitting

For those who have been examined for glasses, you can expect something very similar, but with a couple of quick extra steps. Never had an eye exam for contact lenses or glasses before? It's easy. The initial portion of the examination consists of a comprehensive eye examination which includes a preliminary vision assessment as well as a screening for glaucoma (which tests your peripheral vision and intraocular pressures of the eyes); a refraction to determine what improves your vision, and a health assessment of your outer and inner eye structures.

Next, your optometrist will have you look at rows of letters while shifting through differently-powered lenses. She will also examine your eye to get the curvature of your cornea and look for scratched or other irregularities.
